Hi, my name is Erica and I’m an IPSP certified pediatric sleep consultant. I come from a healthcare background where I also work as a nuclear medicine technologist at the hospital. I help patients get their medical diagnosis using diagnostic imaging technologies. I’m also a mother of two beautiful children and one of them is still an infant. I know what you’re going through! To tell you a little bit of my story, let’s start by saying my first child was a challenged sleeper at night. He cried non-stop through numerous nights and I literally slept on my sofa while sitting up and holding him for over three months. That was my only chance to get even a couple hours of sleep on a day-to-day basis. Then, one day I decided this can’t go on so I made an attempt to sleep train him. I didn’t know any better and I just followed what some books on the subject had to say. My precious little one couldn’t even make a sound the next day due to excessive crying and my heart was broken. I decided to stop right away and felt like a failure. Then a few years later, my second child came along. This time I was more prepared and knew better. I started to sleep train him from 6 weeks old and minimized the crying with gentler methods. He is now 5 months old and fully trained to sleep 10 to 12 hours a night. Of course, it makes my life easier but it also makes my baby happy. He is well-rested and has been an easy-going baby ever since! Since then, I have recommended sleep training to all parents so that they too can achieve a well-rested, better quality of life for their families.
