Looking for a Gig You Can Do From Home? Check Out These Mom Stay-at-Home Jobs

While staying home with your little ones is a job within itself, many stay-at-home moms look for jobs that don’t involve changing diapers and tummy time and bring in some cash. There are many different mom stay at home jobs out there, you just need to have an idea of what you want to do with your time, and how much time you have to do it in.

To get started, think about the skills you bring to the table and what you like doing. Once you have these pieces to the puzzle locked in, you can start searching for ideas that fit your criteria.

Have You Thought About These Mom Stay at Home Jobs?

Virtual Assistant

Are you organized and like organizing other people? If so, you may like being a virtual assistant. They take care of everything from responding to emails to customer service, and scheduling. Most of these tasks can be done on a flexible schedule, which is key for stay-at-home moms. To be successful at this job, you have to have a keen sense of detail and like helping others.

If you are handling the customer service end of a business, you have to be prepared to deal with some unhappy folks. It just comes with the job. If this is something you dislike or aren’t very good at, you may want to reconsider the virtual assistant route.

Another thing to consider…if you get distracted easily and can’t multi-task, you’re not going to be a stellar virtual assistant. Virtual assistants are good jugglers who don’t get frazzled when there are a lot of things on their plates.

Tutoring

Tutoring can be a great stay-at-home mom job, especially for moms who may have been a teacher, or who have experience in a certain subject. To make this happen, you need to decide what age group you want to tutor. Once you have this established, you need to let people know you’re available. Sometimes the easiest (and cheapest) way to do this is by word of mouth. You never know who knows someone who needs tutoring! You can also post on your social media accounts and ask friends and family to share. Contacting the local school district or library can be a good route to take. You may want to look into online sites where you can post your services as well.

Remember, for this to work as a stay-at-home mom gig, you’ll want to do your tutoring online. So, if you were really banking on a flexible schedule type of job or one you could do at 3 a.m., this isn’t going to work. You’re obviously going to need to work when your students are available and awake! This can be a deal breaker for moms who want to tutor but don’t have the time during “normal” hours.

Travel Agent

If you like to travel and are a pro-planner, you could get a stay-at-home mom job as a travel agent. Many stay-at-home moms like this idea because they can earn some cash and get travel perks for themselves.

You don’t need a degree or experience to get hired, but you do need the time to dedicate to helping people plan their trips and research deals. The more trips you can book, the more commission you earn, which is why you want to be sure you have enough time so that it’s worth it.

While you can do most of the legwork on a flexible schedule, you’re probably going to have to carve out some time to talk to your clients, especially if they have specific needs. You also want to be sure that this time doesn’t infringe on the time you want to spend with your family. This may mean shutting it down on weekends and having a cut-off time at night. Sticking to this schedule and setting boundaries is an important part of any stay-at-home job. You wouldn’t slip into the office after hours, so why should you if you’re working from home?

Baby Sleep Consultant

Do you like to help others and want the opportunity to earn a six-figure salary working from home? Then, you’ll want to put baby sleep consultant on your list of mom stay-at-home jobs. A baby sleep consultant teaches families how to get a better night’s rest. You can do this remotely as long as you have a computer and some solid wi-fi.

Becoming a baby sleep consultant is appealing to so many stay-at-home moms because they can do this on a flexible schedule. They can block off times when they have other commitments, so they don’t have to miss out on what’s important to them. No more choosing work or family, because you can have both as a baby sleep consultant.

You also choose how much you want to work since you are your own boss. Some stay-at-home moms just want to do sleep consulting as a part-time job or side hustle. That’s totally fine! You can still earn as much as $4,000 in this type of role. The heavy-hitters who take this on as a full-time job can earn that six-figure salary! Think about where you want to take this job and get moving!
