5 Reasons Sleep Consulting Is Your Ultimate Dream Job
I love to talk about certified baby sleep consulting. (If you’re a regular reader, I’ll bet you’ve guessed that already!)
And one of the things I love the most is describing to my students what they can expect from their career. You see, sleep consulting isn’t like every other job. There are several key elements that make it an absolute dream job.
I asked former students what they love most about their career. Then I matched those to my own reasons for choosing this amazing career. The answers were so similar that I knew I had to let my readers in on the 5 amazing reasons sleep consulting just might be your ultimate dream job.
Sleep Consulting: You Can Work From Home
Home sweet office! Being able to work from home has been an absolute gift for me. And my graduates say the same.
The reason baby sleep consulting can be done from home is that so much can be handled online. This includes:
- Zoom or Google Meet consultations with clients
- Setting up and keeping track of your schedule
- Social media to grow your brand
- Phone call consultations with clients
- Networking
And because Zoom, Facetime and Google Meet allow face-to-face interaction, it’s a personal experience. You’re able to connect with your clients from the comfort of your couch (and PJs!). .
You *Are* the Boss
Many of our graduates have worked for companies in the past (usually outside the home). If this is you, you are answering to a boss. In order to keep things flowing, that boss creates the rules.
But when you become a baby sleep consultant, you are the boss. You make your own “holidays,” sick time and start/end work times.
You also have access at any time of day or night to the administrative end of your career. Have an inspiration at 10PM? Input it right there on your laptop. Then put your work tools away again without having to worry you might miss something in the morning.
You Won’t Miss Your Kids’ Milestones
This one is HUGE for so many of my IPSP graduates. I know it was for me. In fact, it was one of the primary reasons I wanted to find a fulfilling career that I could perform from home.
When I was training to become a certified baby and toddler sleep consultant, my daughter was still an infant. I didn’t want to miss out on anything. Honestly? I still don’t. And I don’t have to. I was there when my daughter took her first steps. And I’ll be there for her first date, and all the other amazing changes that occur while she grows up.
When you choose this flexible career, you don’t have to miss milestones, either. Or that important softball game — or even just being a shoulder to cry on after a squabble between little friends.
You May Earn a Higher Income Than a Four-Year Degree
Yes, it’s true. And I’ll be the first to say this was a primary consideration for me when I chose my career.
My students agree. They want the security of knowing they can pay for the life they desire, whether that be a home, travel, or hobbies.
You may be interested to know that baby sleep consulting has the potential to bring in six figures * (or more) while working full-time. That’s more than the average income for a college graduate with a four-year degree.
It all depends upon your skill level (check out the link below for more info), how much work you’d like to take, and your networking.
* (IPSP-trained Sleep Consultants have reported incomes of 160k+ in a recent survey)
You’ll Make Real Connections
Being an infant and toddler sleep training consultant, you can reach out to as many people as you’d like. In fact, the more connections you make, the better.
That means you stay involved in the “wide world out there” — even if you are in shorts and a T-shirt making a smoothie.
Connections are important. Infant sleep training consultants stay in touch with clients, other consultants, and specialists in various areas of infant care.
You’ll Have Time for Self-Care
My graduates work hard to be the best they can be. (And they love it!) But there’s no denying that it’s awesome to be able to take time for extra sleep or a pedicure when you need it.
Self-care is critical to your emotional health. And taking time for oneself has been linked to better physical health, too These include lower morbidity (disease), lower morality and less in health costs.
Plan client meetings around that brunch date with an old friend, or pop out for your taco fix at noon. With no one to answer to, your schedule offers endless possbilities for fun and relaxation.
