What is Baby Sleep Consulting?

Baby and toddler sleep consulting means you help parents teach their child to self-soothe to sleep. (That’s important; more on self-soothing later.)

An infant sleep consultant is not a medical doctor or registered nurse, though of course, you can be both. (I am!) You can also be certified in other things besides baby sleep consulting. For example, many of my students are also certified in potty training and sign language for babies.

What Does a Baby Sleep Expert Do?

These caring individuals:

  • help mothers get their babies to sleep healthfully
  • use proven methods to map out the ideal plan for the family
  • keep track of clients’ progress
  • help new mothers with breastfeeding or bottle feeding
  • check in on the mother’s emotional health

Getting certified as a baby sleep expert is a great first step, and it can open up doors to a brand-new career for you.

My students love:

  • The flexible hours
  • Having more free time with their own families
  • The ability to Zoom or text with clients
  • The income (baby sleep consulting is very popular right now!)
  • Making new friends and new connections, both professionally and personally

Checklist: Is Sleep Consulting For You?

I have had the honor and sincere pleasure of teaching thousands of students. And I have discovered a few common traits the most successful among them have. With that in mind, a baby sleep consulting certification may be for you if:

  • You have a desire to help. Sleep consultants work one-on-one with families so everyone gets a better night’s rest.
  • You need career flexibility. Sleep consultants generally make their own hours.
  • You want to be able to spend time with your own family. Because this career is so flexible, you don’t miss the important milestones.
  • You want to learn on your own time. At IPSP, you can complete your classes around your own schedule.
  • You like making connections. You will work personally with parents and infants. You’ll also be reaching out to network with other professionals.

Is it Hard to Become a Baby Sleep Consultant?

You will need to go to school for a minimum number of hours in order to get certified. As for the work itself, my students love their classes. When they get stuck, I am there for them. Remember: it is very important that your school offers resources in case you have questions.

You will need to:

  • Take a minimum number of hours’ worth of classes.
  • Take specific classes that cover all aspects of sleep consulting, including when to refer out, legal possibilities, and the biology of infant sleep.
  • Pass your classes and become certified.
  • Reach out in order to get the word out about your business.

Our promise to you is that you will receive the best education on a flexible schedule, with the opportunity to pass the program and become certified. After that, you can start working right away. How many clients you have and how often you work is up to you. Networking can help. I always tell my students to reach out, especially via social media, so that clients can get to know them and pass the word along that they’re available.

If you feel sleep consulting is for you, I’d love to see you in class! Check out the IPSP Sleep Consultant Certification. We offer three easy payment plans including discounts. Before you know it, you’ll be on your way to the caring career of your dreams.
