Top 5 Reasons To Become A Baby Sleep Consultant
IPSP graduates report a number of reasons they decided on this amazing and enriching career. We polled students and found the top 5 reasons they decided to become sleep consultants. This is what they said:
- “I love working with families, especially babies and toddlers.”
- “I needed a job that was flexible and worked around my schedule.”
- “I wanted to able to work from home/take clients over Zoom.”
- “Sleep consulting offered a great income per consultation.”
- “I wanted to learn a new career and I needed classes I could take on my own time.”
What Does A Baby Sleep Consultant Do?
A baby sleep consultant is a trained professional who specializes in helping parents and caregivers establish healthy sleep habits for their infants and toddlers. These experts understand the intricacies of child sleep patterns and provide personalized guidance to address issues like bedtime struggles, night waking, and nap schedules. They work closely with families to create gentle and effective sleep plans tailored to the child’s needs and the family’s lifestyle. Through education, support, and ongoing guidance, baby sleep consultants empower families to achieve better sleep for everyone involved, promoting happier, healthier households.

At IPSP, we offer classes in everything a baby sleep consultant will encounter, from baby sleep to legal matters to business advice. Take classes in:
- The science of infant sleep
- Sleep training techniques
- Bumps in the road, such as teething, night weaning or anxiety
- The business of sleep coaching
- Infant to school-age sleep basics
- Creating a customized sleep plan for clients
- When to refer clients to a specialist
Is Your School A SCAM? Here’s How To Tell
I founded IPSP to ensure the best, most reliable and most accessible avenue for serious students to quickly achieve their dreams of becoming consultants in several key baby specialties.
Dozens of my now-happy students have told me stories of “schools” they encountered before finding IPSP. My own research supported these stories: there are in fact quite a few scam sites out there claiming to deliver quick, easy, cheap sleep consultant “certificates.”
BEWARE of online “schools” that:
- Are brand-new. Scroll to the bottom of the page. What is the copyright date? The “school” may intend to only stay open for a few months — just long enough to take tuition from a few hundred hopeful students, then disappear.
- Do not have a social media presence or only have a few weeks’ or months’ online presence. You may be looking at a similar situation to the one above.
- Offer extremely low tuition. Tuition for a certified baby sleep consulting program should be around $3,000-4,500. If it’s much lower (or significantly higher), you may be getting reeled in, only to have the site “disappear” quickly.
- Have a vague name. Some scam sites buy out old, unrelated sites cheaply, put up some plagiarized material (I found some of mine stolen and put up on scam sites!), are very incomplete, and offer no help, much less legitimate certification. Beware — you may be in for legal trouble later on if you operate as a certified sleep consultant without correct training.
- Aren’t taught by professionals. If the “school” is not taught by medical doctors, registered nurses, and other trained professionals, you are getting incompletely taught classes.
